In early September, Creative Writing faculty hosted a group of East European/Baltic state academics who have fled Russia in the name of academic freedom and were invited by the US State Department to tour centers of education and culture in the US.Ā They were interested in developing bonds with our program and in learning about the role of the Creative Writing Center in terms of community and curricular development at °®ŅŗAʬ, as well as the role of an English Department as central to a liberal arts education.Ā

Natalie Gramer was the fall 2023 recipient of the Provost’s Award, which recognizes outstanding academic achievement and service. Her poem āThe Titheā was recently published in Shot Glass Journal.

Joanna Brewerās short story “The Illustrator” was published in New Feathers Anthology. Her novella Evening was also short-listed for the Plaza Literary Prize, and her story “Daffy Daphne” placed tenth in the Writer’s Digest Writing Competition, Literary Fiction Category.

The Center for Creative Writing recommends the university arts, literature, and culture journal , where °®ŅŗAʬ students may submit their work for consideration. Since 1983, Metrosphere has published over forty print issues as well as a variety of multimedia offerings.
